Book 2: Everburning Fire

Nansli’s situation at the university has been restored, but it continues to spark controversy. Increasing enmity toward Gevlins has led the Council to enact a mandatory registration, exposing her people to widespread mistreatment by the constabulary. As tensions rise on both sides, Nansli and her friends strive to gain support by publishing stories of injustice as experienced by Gevlins. While some Kessers are willing to listen, others are convinced that Nansli’s machinist aspirations are part of a plot by Gevlins seeking vengeance for the ancient war that once devastated their people. As far as they’re concerned, it’s better to strike first.
